Choosing a coaching centre in Indirapuram: 8 questions parents should ask

Indirapuram.com Β·

Walk through any market in Vaibhav Khand, Nyay Khand or Niti Khand and you will see banners for coaching centres on almost every first floor. For parents, the choice can feel overwhelming: every centre promises toppers, small batches and "concept clarity." Before paying a full year's fees, it helps to visit two or three places and ask the same set of questions at each one. Here are the eight that matter most.

  1. How many students are in one batch? Anything above twenty-five in a class makes it hard for a teacher to notice who is struggling. For classes 9 to 12, a batch of fifteen to twenty is a good size.
  2. Who will actually teach my child? Many centres advertise a senior teacher but hand most classes to juniors. Ask for the names of the teachers for each subject and whether you can meet them.
  3. Can my child attend a demo class? A good centre will happily let a student sit in for two or three classes before joining. Ask your child afterwards whether they understood the lesson and felt comfortable asking questions.
  4. How are tests conducted and shared? Weekly or fortnightly tests are useful only if parents see the results. Ask whether marks are shared on WhatsApp or through an app, and whether there are parent-teacher meetings.
  5. What happens if my child misses a class? With school exams, family functions and illness, some absences are unavoidable. Find out whether there are recorded lectures, doubt sessions or catch-up classes.
  6. How long is the commute? A centre in the next khand may save an hour a day compared with one across NH-24. That hour is better spent on sleep or self-study, especially for students in classes 11 and 12.
  7. What is the complete fee, and what is the refund policy? Ask for the fee in writing, including study material, test series and GST. Check what happens if your child needs to leave midway through the year.
  8. How safe is the building? Look at the staircase, the exits, and whether the classroom is overcrowded or poorly ventilated. It is a fair question, and a responsible centre will not mind being asked.

Finally, talk to other parents in your society's WhatsApp group. Their experience over a full year is worth more than any banner.
